Ostie or M16?

What do you choose? Why?

I'll take M16 for field assault because of it's speed (and because it can take out a town building faster than a tank..) and because it can land a good number of hits on planes flying parallel and sometimes for field defense if the vulchers are fixated on vulching, and again, flying parallel to me.

I'll take Ostie for VH defense, easier to dig in with and it's armor is really needed.

You have the floor.

Ostie all the way baby.

Good armor (well the open top ;) ), decent range. I`ll take it to accompany tanks on the attack and obviously base defense.

For the real attack I use a real Panzer.

I can hit fairly well with either SPAA.  I find the M16 to be much more effective vs. jabos than the Osti, but the Osti is pretty much required vs. buffs.  All you'll get vs. buffs in an M16 is 1-3 assists in most cases.

A very important consideration for picking the right SPAA is stealth.  If the jabo herd spots you, you're gonna be dead fairly quickly regardless of what you're driving, assuming the nme's serious about their attack.  IMHO it's MUCH better to be in an unspotted M16 than a spotted Osti because the extra armor does you no real good when the rain of 1000# bombs comes down.  So, picking the right SPAA should depend in part on the color of the map's terrain tiles in the AO and the GV skins on the map.  You want the SPAA that blends in the best.

Of course, DO NOT USE TRACERS.  Otherwise, the paintscheme doesn't matter a bit.

Bullethead, you are falling victim to an AH bug. ALL gunner positions, on ALL vehicles produce visible tracers for everyone to see, even if you have your tracers turned off on your FE. The only time tracers are not visible is from fixed mounted, forward firing guns on aircraft.

Basically, if you have your tracers turned off while using a GV, you are the only one not seeing your fire. It's been a widely complained about topic with many AH players for a long time now. So until it's fixed, keep your tracers on in your GV to help you aim.. good luck :)

Oh yeah.. I prefer M16 also. I can't hit anything with that 37mm unless it is flying right at me, but by that time it's usually too late.

Thanks for the tip, Midnight.  Too bad you can't turn tracers off on individual rides.  But it's all or nothing, and I don't use them in planes these days, so I don't have them in GVs.

What he said.  Spent my early days in AH flying B-17s a lot, got used to shooting .50s, still have a pretty decent idea of what kind of lead I need to use on a moving target.  Can't hit sh*t with the Osty unless it is coming in a straight line at me, and even then I usually don't hit it until it release some kind of ord in my direction.

ostie for base defence (i like to sit in a hanger)

M-16 for riding shotgun with a squadies M3 for base capture,  I'm always suprised at how many lone m3's I see, An m3 with a couple of m16 escorts driving at full pelt is a much less attractive target than the 2 lone m3's lagging behind.  :-)

I tend to GV a lot and am more effective in the Osty, moving or stood still, however I am more than aware of how fast the M16 is, wickedly so, it's just its dam armour or lack of it that annoys me.

Here's my selection in order of pref.

Panzer 1st for VH and town attacks, unless I'm flush with perks then it's a TIGER!!!!

Osty 2nd for VH defending

M16 3rd for vulchin

M8 4th for the 'bouncy' laugh!!

So, I'll osty 4 now.....

M16 u all l8r.
